The Return?

Hey guys! Okay, so, it’s been a long time but I have a ton of free time now, so I’m going to begin the revamp and try to open Sweet Banana as soon as possible.

Minor Changes:

  • the decks are listed alphabetically instead of by category, it was a bit difficult to list by category actually, since some decks fit in multiple ones
  • the currency/coupon system will probably be changed more than a couple times before I open
  • the games have gone through a revamp as well, and I’m pretty sure I will change so around again to maximize enjoyability and ease of update for me XD

Future Plans:
The Restaurant: it’s gonna be like an activities hub (mini-mastery, stamp cards, market place, etc) and incorporate some aspects of the old game like Iron Chef and the kitchen equipment but will also introduce other aspects like monthly contests and mini-mastery

I actually have A LOT of ideas floating around in my head, so this is only a very simple sketch of what I want to do with Sweet Banana.

Some feedback from all of you:

  1. How do you like the new card pages?
  2. How do you like the new games? What is your favorite and least favorite games?
  3. What kind of currency/coupon system would you like to see? Do you like using coupons? Would you prefer money or cute foods to represent currency?
  4. What kind of monthly contests/activities would you like to participate in?
  5. Did you like the old forum, or would prefer phpBB instead? 6) What is your favorite aspect of Sweet Banana? What is your least favorite?
  6. What new decks would you like to see?

Apologies…

Just a quick note, dropping in to say I haven’t forgotten about you guys. I’m waaaayy past the deadline, but my summer research project is seriously sucking the life out of me. Who knew lab work of all things is tiresome and difficult? Not me!!

In any case, I think the hiatus will need to be extended. I don’t want to say indefinitely, but I lack the bundles of free time I was anticipating to work on all the ideas and changes I have for Sweet Banana. It sounds like I’m just making up excuse after excuse, and truthfully, it IS a hard to start working on the TCG again after all this time. I’m not the most reliable one when it comes to promises either. But, I will try my hardest to maintain my promises. After, we’ve all put in so much time already, I would hate to see it go to waste.

Thanks a lot guys, for all your patience and dedication. Cross your fingers for a mid to late August return!

I love you guys so much! Thank you for nominating Sweet Banana over at Majestic TCG Awards!! You guys are so awesome! It’s like being nominated for the Oscars or something. Just being there makes me feel happy. As a thank you gift, take three cards spelling out T – C – G and an extra special card of choice!

Further Hiatus Plans

I’ve been redoing things here and there and made another layout, but there are still a couple of things that I need to finish before we are ready for Sweet Banana’s return from hiatus.

Firstly, regarding the last update:

  1. If you have leftover Food Cards, round up and grab another coupon of the appropriate type.
  2. Memory and Puzzle have been fixed, as well as This or That.
  3. I approved everyone’s comments. I keep on forgetting to do that. ^^;;; (Sorry!)

Secondly, as for running your own restaurants…I was thinking of letting you guys send in images to make five card mini decks (worth 3) of your favorite dish, your favorite cuisine, etc. There would be a special set of games you can play to earn these cards.  Every time you master a deck, you would have eaten at so and so’s restaurant and they make ‘money’ or apples in our case. Something along those lines. There would other variables, but before I embark on epic Restaurant making, I want to know if you guys like this idea or not.

Thirdly, I think mid July is still a good estimate of when Sweet Banana will return for good. I’m juggling two internships, so it might get a little weird, but say hello to free time!!

Staff

I’ve made a list below of the current staff positions filled (or need to be filled). If the MIA staff members fail to claim their positions before we re-open, their positions will be up for grabs.

Returning Staff Members:

  • Karen – Trade Rewards + Pick a Food
  • Mirraya – Food Cards Exchange + Famous Chefs + The Kitchen Updater
  • Sepia – Upcoming Decks Updater

Hiatus Staff Members:

  • Smam – Puzzle Deck Maker
  • Tamaneko – Sat. Games + Member List + Forum Rewards

MIA Staff Members:

  • Korinee – Higher or Lower? + Iron Chef + Famous Chefs
  • Kitzu - Wednesday Games
  • Lexi – Leftovers

New and Open Staff Positions:

  • Master Badges Maker -  I can’t keep track of making master badges and there are a bunch of decks missing them, so I would love someone to become the official master badges maker.
  • Biweekly Games Updater One/Two – This job is pretty standard and self explanatory. If Kitzu doesn’t claim her old position by the time we permanently return, I’ll choose new staff member.
  • Puzzle Deck Maker – I would like to hire another puzzle deck maker to take the pressure off Smam who’s already on hiatus.
  • Member List (Temprorary) – Since Tamaneko is on hiatus, I would like to hire someone to fill in for her.
  • Forum Rewards (Temprorary) – Same as Member List ^
  • Higher or Lower? – Korinee is no longer with the TCG, so I would need someone to fill for her job as well.

Member List Clean Up

I cleaned up the member list a bit and added a new mint chocolate chip ice cream icon to denote Prejoin. I deleted members who no longer list Sweet Banana as an active TCG on their trade post and I moved members who have no updated since March into the inactive category. If you were accidentally or wrongfully deleted, please contact me as soon as possible with your information and former level, etc.  =D

New Decks!

So, I have a couple of new decks for you guys. Everyone may take 18 card worth from below, maximum of two cards from the same deck.

And! Because it’s my birthday this month, everyone may also take four cards spelling out J – U – L – Y and one 02 and one 03 card. =D! Be sure to comment with what you took!

Hiatus Plans/Changes

Coupons

Instead of Food Cards, we’re switching over to actual coupons. I want to do something else with Food Cards because they feel really limiting and better suited for something more fun. XD! The exchange rate is three food cards for one new coupon. You can only exchange Special food cards for special coupons. Visit the new Coupon page for more information.

Currency

I’ve also decided to switch the Currency from money to apples. It seems really random, but I thought the apples were cuter and much more theme appropriate. Visit the new Coupon page for more information.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE RATE

Pretty self explanatory. Take an apple with the corresponding number for each type of old monetary denomination you have. If you have loose change, round up!

Games

The games also went through some sort of a revamp, but instead of the old Wednesday/Saturday games, I’ve decided to go with two alternating biweekly sets. Moonlight Legend switched over to the biweekly system recently and it looked interesting. It feels like two biweekly sets would be easier to update. I’ve added some new games, but most of the old ones are still there.

NOTE: If you were a pre-hiatus game updater, feel free to email me or PM me on the forums with which set you want to update. On that note, I’m also looking for someone to fill in for Tamaneko while she is on hiatus. Email or PM me if you are interested in being a game updater!

Let me know if you prefer the Wed/Sat system or the Biweekly system and you will be rewarded with one choice card. ^^

And! Feel free to play the games that have been updated when I did the revamp. Tell me if anything isn’t working.

Jobs/Staff

If you were a pre-hiatus staff member, please comment below with your position! Some staff members quit and I’ve lost track of people and their jobs.

Also, I’m looking for another puzzle deck maker to help out Smam. In any case, I just want more puzzle decks and I can’t make any because I’m utter fail when it comes to puzzle decks.

Wordpress

NOTE: If you were a pre-hiatus CuteNews user (for updating games, anouncements, etc…) leave a comment and I will make a Wordpress account for you.

I never really liked CuteNews and the spam was really annoying, so I tweaked Wordpress a bit and will be using it as the new CMS. It’s not really picture friendly, but, heck, Akismet catches spam! XD!

Also, your comment must be approved before it will appear, but you only have to be approved once. =D

Things to come…

  1. Restarting Cook-Off
  2. I was thinking of a new version of Iron Chef where you get to run your own restaurant. The idea seemed nice, but it’s really tricky. I’ve never owned a restaurant in my life. XD!
  3. The Summer Event is going to end up being the Late Summer Early Autumn event at this pace. Sorry!! ^^;;;
  4. Make more game rounds (speaking of games: do you guys have any ideas for possible games?)
  5. Make more decks

Projected End of Hiatus…I’m aiming for Mid July. I think that’s about it. I’m going to go back to working on that Iron Chef idea. I’m hoping you guys don’t ditch me through this hiatus. ^^!
